Öğe Avoiding employee deviance in the hotel industry: Investigating the mediating effect of trust in leadership(WILEY, 111 RIVER ST, HOBOKEN 07030-5774, NJ, 2022) Tarkang Mary, Magdaline Enow Mbi; Öztüren, Ali; Nange, Ruth YunjiThe current paper observes the effect of ethics in leadership on employees trust, affective commitments, and deviance behaviors. Ethical behavior, choices of supervisors and managers, and apprehension of the establishments where deviant activities are supported by workers will be vital. The impression of corrupt morals appears to be a risk to the achievement of the institution. This study made use of a method using a convenience sample. Statistics of 264 workers of sampled hotels were used to obtain the opinions of the respondents about the constructs. Confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and correlation analysis were used to assess the main consequences and examine the causality among associated variables. The outcomes displayed revealed that ethical leadership can boost workers' trust in their leaders. Thus, workers can be successfully devoted to their tasks and have no motive to indulge in nonconformity actions when they trust in the leadership of their management. The outcomes showed that trust in leaders by staff definitely influences affective commitments and were against unconventional deviance behaviors, as seen from the consequences, outcomes, practical implications, and suggestions recommended, when making decisions, by future scholars.Öğe Can Website quality Moderate the Relationship between Information-task-fit and Electronic word of mouth?(WILEY, 111 RIVER ST, HOBOKEN 07030-5774, NJ, 2022) Tarkang Mary, Magdaline Enow Mbi; Öztüren, Ali; Alola, Uju VioletInformation technology expertise has comprehensively revamped and made well recognized, the hospitality and tourism industry. Electronic businesses, which are different type of commercial business was constructed and established with the help of the internet, and this now affects the way clients react. The current research seeks to explore the effect of information-task-fit, on electronic word of mouth (eWOM) of users of Turkish airlines. Furthermore, the present study examines the moderating role of website quality on the aforementioned relationship. Six hundred and four usable questionnaires were obtained online within a 6 month period with the use of Google forms The current study used a quantitative and cross-sectional type of research method. The anticipated interactions were estimated using structural equation modeling. All anticipated relationships were supported, with discernment that the availability of users required information on the website impacted them to engage in eWOM. As hypothesized, the quality of the website, moderated the relationship between information-task-fit (INTF) and eWOM. The consequences of the present research proposes comprehensions into maintaining and why not improving the website quality by making the website user friendly, so as to attract potential users and keep current users. This study's complete model is scare in the airline service literature. In consequence there should be an added research on the influence of information task fit website information and design on supposed service quality and internet word of mouth. Managers should also uphold an elevation website ethics by employing good professional website builders to attract their usage. This study offers inferences for airline website quality.Öğe Does the tourist’s incivility relate to the tour guide’s professionalism? The case of destination Zanzibar(Inderscience Publishers, 2024) Abdalla, Moh'd Juma; Eluwole, Kayode Kolawole; Öztüren, AliAs part of the service delivery process of tour operations, tour guides are often faced with rude behaviour from tourists. The present study develops a conceptual framework that empirically tests the linkages of tourist incivility (TIN), professional knowledge (TPK), professional attitude (TPA), and professional skills (TPS). Using SMART-PLS to analyse the data collected from 277 tour guides in Zanzibar, the study’s findings revealed that TIN has insignificant direct effects on both tour guides’ TPA and tour guides’ TPK. The results also suggest that TPS mediates the impact of tourist incivility on TPK but fails to support TPA mediation. Lastly, importance-performance map analysis revealed that TPK is of utmost importance to tour guides, although it leads to slightly lesser performance behind TPS and tourist incivility. Recommendations for novel coping mechanisms for practitioners were suggested. As service paradigm and customer expectations shift from conventional customized and personalized services towards a digitalized service environment, such customer orientation may favor using service robots at scales that could render service employees redundant. This study aims to answer the above question by investigating service employees’ perceptions of service robots. Data solicited from 405 service employees in the United States of America via Amazon’s MTurk were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The result revealed that employees’ awareness of adopting and using service robots significantly impacts their perception of robot-induced unemployment. Further, results indicated that the perception of robots’ social skills significantly influences service employees’ perception of robot-induced unemployment. Employee status was found to moderate the relationships mentioned above. Specifically, entry-level employees perceive the unemployment risk more than managers.Öğe Inspiring employee voice through leader-member exchange(WILEY, 111 RIVER ST, HOBOKEN 07030-5774, NJ, 2022) Tarkang Mary, Magdaline Enow Mbi; Nange, Ruth Yunji; Öztüren, AliThe competitiveness in the hotel setting around the world is increasingly developing worldwide, as hotels try to follow innovative strategies to cultivate, and as customers have more alternatives to make choices. This paper makes use of 3 and 4 star hotels in the South-west region of Cameroon. Five-star hotels were not included in the study because none were found in the region. Leader–member exchange (LMX) induces good employee job performance and innovative outcomes through work engagement. Good behaviour can be seen in their positive innovations and voice contributions. As a result, leadership should be an essential part in the management setting; this work examines the influence of LMX on employees work engagement (EWE), and subsequently the effect of EWE on innovative work behaviour (IWB) and employee voice behaviour (EVB) in the hotels in the South-west region of Cameroon. Poor relationship between leaders and their subordinates hinders employee's progress and threatens the organizations' productivity and long-term success. Data used for the present study included 272 usable responses from hotel employees using three waves of collection with self-administered questionnaire. Correlation, confirmatory factor and path analysis were implored for data analysis. According to the results, it was confirmed that leader's positive interactive behaviour could have an expressive influence on their follower's engagement levels, propagated their innovation and positive voice suggestions. Staffs with EWE can express innovative behaviour and pursue innovation by voluntarily performing behaviours that are not included in their roles. Website quality constitutes an influencing factor in consumer behavior and decision-making. Therefore the purpose of this study is to test informarion-task-fit on etetronic word of month, purchase intention and website quality. The study tested the effect of information-task-fit on website quality, electronic word of mouth and purchase intention of users of Turkish Airlines. A total of 604 questionnaires was obtained online within six months, using a quantitative and cross-sectional approach. The proposed above relationships were evaluated via structural equation modeling. Results were as hypothesized, with the perception that the availability of information required by users on the website influence website quality, electronic word of mouth and purchase intention. The website quality also influenced users' intention to purchase and electronic word of mouth. These results offer insights into improving and maintaining website quality by making the website user friendly so as to attract greater audience. This study's comprehensive model is lacking in service airline literature, thus this is an added research on the influence of information-task-fit web information and design on supposed quality of service and intention to purchase. Managers should also maintain high standards by hiring professional website builders so as to increase their usage. This study provides implications for airline website quality. No organization prospers in an uncivil environment. The high level of turnover intention that results from an uncivil working environment threatens the organization's reputation and sustainability. Adopting from Bagozzi's Appraisal-Emotional Response, this study tested the relationship between workplace incivility, turnover intention, and job satisfaction via the mediating role of emotional exhaustion, using AMOS version 22. The findings reviews that workplace incivility harms both the employees and the organization. Also, workplace incivility has a positive impact on emotional exhaustion and turnover intentions while a negative influence on job satisfaction. Human resource managers are advised to train both supervisors and customers to curtail uncivil behaviors. Both theoretical and practical implications were given. In conclusion, the study suggests further research presenting the limitations of the study.Öğe Understanding residents' empowerment and community attachment in festival tourism: The case of Victoria Falls(ELSEVIER, RADARWEG 29, 1043 NX AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS, 2022) Eluwole, Kayode Kolawole; Banga, Cathrine; Lasisi, Taiwo Temitope; Öztüren, Ali; Kılıç, HasanThis study investigated the effects of residents’ empowerment, community attachment, wellbeing, and economic benefits on their support of festivals. A sample of 510 residents of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, was used for data collection. The study proposes an empirical model to investigate the impacts of residents’ empowerment on their support for festivals and the mediation of the link by community attachment and residents’ wellbeing. The results from the structural equation model support all but one hypothesis. Specifically, residents’ empowerment fosters wellbeing, community attachment, and support for festivals. Residents’ wellbeing mediates these relationships, and economic benefits moderate the mediated model. These findings highlight the importance of psychologically, sociologically, environmentally, and politically empowering the residents in festival host communities. Festival planners, governments, and local authorities are encouraged to communicate the positive effects of the festivals and help to empower the communities to ensure residents’ full support. Additionally, they ought to ensure that residents are fully aware of the power they hold and able to use it to their advantage to encourage support for festival development in host communities.
